Pergola with side walls
Side walls — when the pergola is meant to become a room.
Wind, prying eyes, cold—open pergolas have their limits. Side walls made of glass, fabric, or aluminum louvers turn your pergola into an enclosed space you can use all year round.
Open pergola ≠ enclosed space
A pergola without side walls has its limits.
Wind blows through, prying eyes look in, warmth escapes.
Wind blows through
In stormy weather or the Bise, an open pergola isn’t a pleasant place. The furniture shifts, and guests get cold.
Neighbors can see inside
Open pergolas are like a display window for the neighbors. Your cozy dinner gets watched.
Heat escapes
Patio heaters under an open pergola: lots of energy, little effect. The warm air rises up and away.
The side walls are the upgrade that turns the pergola from a garden space into a living space.
Three side wall options
Depending on the function: glass, fabric, or louvers.
You can also combine options—for example, glass on the windward side and a fabric side wall to block the neighbor’s view.
-
Glass side walls Transparent, weather-resistant, windproof and watertight. Ideal for year-round use of the space while preserving natural light.
-
Fabric side walls Operated like blinds, more affordable than glass, available in 30+ colors. Ideal for privacy screening and sunny sides.
-
Aluminum louver walls Rotatable like the roof. Transparent or opaque at the push of a button — the most flexible solution, premium price.

Yes — all sidewall options can be retrofitted after the pergola is installed. We plan the post rails from the start.
Yes. We use safety glass (ESG or VSG) with a weather-resistant aluminum frame. 10-year warranty against corrosion.
Almost always yes — because they change the visible dimensions of the pergola. We submit the building permit application including the side walls, so there’s no separate application later.
